Love is in the air…

May 31st, 2010 Film Shoot 0 Comment

Love. Such a beautiful emotion. Its even more amazing to convey and portray the same in a well-made film.

Yes, the film I’m currently working on right now is a Love Story titled: ” Ek Nayi Prem Kahaani”.

It is currently in the making and the film will be shot in Aamchi Mumbai, Cultural Haridwar and Cool Canada.  My role is sweet, endearing and very very different.

I play the lead actress in the film and my role is of a simple girl from Haridwar who works at the local hospital as a nurse. The script requires me to be as natural as possible, in simple clothes and minimal make-up. I have a complete “girl-next-door” look and I’m loving it! :)

Well, would love to share more details. But, in a few days…

Watch this space for more and yes, do tell me how you like the pictures! :)

Of Folk Dances & Traditional Clothes

April 15th, 2010 Dance, Film Shoot, Home, Life, Tollywood 2 Comments

April is here and along with a sunny weather, it has brought with it a fresh energy and zest for life.

Past few months have been very fulfilling professionally and personally.

On the professional front, I recently shot for a folk dance for the upcoming film “Kotimooka”, directed by comedian turned director AVS. It felt great to wear my dancing shoes again and perform a solo and be trained by one of the most vivacious dancers in the industry-Shekhar master.

Though this folk dance was is among the best i have done till date, i also had to put in lot of hard work into perfecting the dance steps and facial expressions. There were numerous times when i fell, lost my balance and tripped as the dance steps asked for a lot of stamina and energy on my part. In the process, i got a lot of wounds and injuries but i feel absolutely wonderful looking at the final result and thinking of the fantastic shoot.

On the personal front, I am very happy and the reason is my dearest Mother’s successful designing endeavor. She recently put up an exhibit of traditional garments. She designed a range of colorful salwar suits, kurtas and a lot of other ethnic clothing that was an instant hit with all the women at the exhibit. The clothes are stylish, comfortable and in perfect harmony with the Indian women’s sensibilities. I kept quite a few chic kurtas aside that are part of my vast wardrobe now.

As for the rest, it all looks good… Will keep you all posted on work and life.

Snowy Times

February 5th, 2010 Home, Life, Nature, Shopping, travelogue 5 Comments

Back after a refreshing trip from the north. An extremely memorable experience, it was a much deserved break from the nonstop shooting after two years. What made it even more special was that this getaway was with my family :)

Traveling up north was an experience itself.  North India wooed me with its special charm and serene brand of beauty. The beautiful valleys, cold weather and breathtaking scenery were the perfect refuge to rejuvenate and spend some time with my mom and brother in solitude.

We stayed at a quaint shikara at the very famous Dal Lake, that was complete with traditional wooden interiors, Kashmiri handicrafts, cozy rooms and of course, picturesque views! I started my mornings with an absolutely stunning view from my bedroom admiring the pure beauty of Kashmir. Every morning was spent just lazing around and in the afternoons and evenings, my family and i set out to play tourists .

We indulged in the regional delicacies, shopped for handicrafts and of course enjoyed the serene boat rides in the lake. The highlight of my trip however was the snowstorm! Just two days before we were to leave and head towards Uttarakhand, it started snowing very heavily. It actually was a blessing in disguise because it gave me even more time to spend time with my loved ones and explore the valley. I shopped a little more for arty stuff, ethnic Kashmiri handicrafts, pashmina shawls, saffron and rugs. I even dressed up like the Kashmiri women in a beautiful red hand-embroidered outfit with lots of pretty jewelry.

On one particular afternoon, me and my family indulged in a snowball fight. Thanks to the thick sweaters and jackets, none of us caught a cold, but had one of the most carefree times ever :) A day later when the the snow subsided, we went ahead on our way to Gulmarg.

At Gulmarg, we stayed at a resort which offered a stunning view of snow-capped mountains. We enjoyed the cable car ride and i fell in love with the view that encompassed the pure, white scenery, like a picture-perfect postcard. After exploring a little more of the local culture, we visited the golf course. After spending another peaceful night at the gorgeous resort of Gulmarg, we set off to Auli.

My stay at the Dal lake and at Gulmarg was soothing and in contrast at Auli it was exciting! While the same snowy scenery of snow-capped mountains and the awesome weather continued, it gave me a chance to set of on adventures. Will be posting more soon …

Happy Makar Sankranti and Pongal :)

It’s a beautiful day outside and we are all excited to see the back of the winter. Personally for me the last six months have been hectic with house renovation and vacations! I had the pleasure to go to Kashmir this December with my family!

And it was a beautiful journey. Will put up the pictures soon. It still makes me feel sad that such a beautiful place is being torn up by terror. Moving onto the silver screen, I have some very interesting projects coming up! Will keep updating you guys :)

Love,
Madhu
